I like my current gig, but I'm getting recruited

"I like my current gig, but I'm getting recruited for a leadership role on a growth team. It seems cool. What should I do?" 🤔

If you work in growth, you've probably had this dialogue a few times recently.

It's fun and exciting to be recruited. But the grass isn't always greener.

Before taking the interview, here's three things to consider:

1. Will you learn more by staying in your current role or leaving?

If this feels like an overwhelming question, drill intro your knowledge of:
- Growth & experimentation process
- Modeling experience
- Data analysis chops
- New channel exploration
- People/ project management

2. Is there still room to have a big impact in your current role?

Do you feel like you're only able to make a an incremental impact in your position? Or is there still a big impact to be made by staying the course?

Related to number 1, the bigger impact you can make, the more you can learn.

3. Are you still excited about the problems you're focused on?

Or, are you feeling burned out? Like you're going through the motions trying to push the same projects through?

You want to spend your time somewhere that gives you energy, not zaps it.

Based on your answers to these questions, you'll have two options:

You can ignore the recruiting distraction. Double down in your current role. Play the long game.

Or, take the interview. See what's out there.

Either way, it's helpful to reflect before the interview excitement kicks in.
