The Growth Council — Delivering Value

The growth role is one of the
loneliest jobs at a startup.

You've read the playbooks. You know the tactics. The hard part is the distance between knowing what good looks like and actually getting it done at your company, with your CEO, with nobody outside your walls to pressure-test your thinking who's genuinely invested in your success.

You've read the playbooks. You've probably done a few courses on this stuff.

What you're missing is someone who can help you think, stress test, and problem solve before you walk into the room.

"I felt like I was running solo and was in need of a growth peer that was better and smarter than me."

— Mario Araujo, Head of Growth
"Being a head of growth is f*cking hard. I've done this before and knew that to set myself up for success I should get some serious backup."

— Bogdan Pol, Head of Growth

The pressure isn't just about tactics. It's the combination of being new to the scope of the role, not having a mentor who's done your exact job, and having no one inside your company to be fully honest with.

By the time most growth leaders share their thinking internally, they've already committed to a direction. The stress-testing (the honest pushback, the reality check, the "have you considered this?") never happens.

That's the gap. The Growth Council is where you close it.

Going it alone vs. having the right room

Figuring it out alone

What most growth leaders experience

You share your growth strategy after you've already locked in, because there's no safe place to test it first
Your CEO pushes back and you don't know if you're right or just stubborn
You're new to this level and don't have a mentor who's actually done your job before
You feel overwhelmed and never quite confident enough to hold your ground
You can talk growth fluently with other growth nerds, but translating it to people who don't believe in it is where you get stuck

With the Growth Council

What changes when you have the right room

You bring your real challenges before they go internal, and leave knowing if you're on the right track
You get honest pushback from people who understand growth and are invested in your success, not your org chart
You learn to operate at the next level with someone who's coached 90+ growth leaders through exactly your transition
You walk into hard meetings feeling prepared, grounded, and confident, not just hoping you're right
You build the translation skills to make your company see what you see, and move in the direction you know is right
You have a sounding board to stress test difficult situations, and someone to help you detangle whether it's you or the situation that's the real challenge
You sharpen the soft skills that don't show up in playbooks: how to communicate, influence, and navigate the dynamics that actually determine whether your ideas get traction
You have people to think through team dynamics with, whether you're managing up, managing across, or figuring out how to build the right growth culture

Small group coaching.
Six growth leaders. Two sessions a month. Real challenges, worked through together.

The Growth Council is a structured, facilitated group coaching program. Six growth leaders at the Director, Head, or VP level. Two live sessions every month. You bring your real challenges. The group stress-tests them. Andrew brings pattern recognition from 90+ coaching engagements. You leave knowing what you think, and why.

🎯

It's structured

There's a shared curriculum: six themes that create common language and a foundation for real conversation. You're building something month by month, not just dropping in on calls.

🔬

It's a stress test

Every session is a space to bring your real challenges before they go internal. You leave knowing what you believe and why.

🤝

It's peer-level

Six people at your level. No spectators. You learn as much from the person to your left as you do from Andrew.

Everything you need. Nothing you don't.

🤝

Kickoff 1:1 with Andrew

Before the group starts, you and Andrew meet 1:1. He learns your context, your current challenges, and what you most want from the next six months. You show up to Session 1 already known — not a stranger introducing yourself cold.

🎯

Monthly Mastermind Session (75 min)

Andrew picks a theme based on what he's seeing across the room. Everyone brings their real challenges, goals, and questions on that theme. The group works through them together — rotating, asking sharper questions, surfacing blind spots, and holding each other accountable to what they'll try next.

🔬

Monthly Hot Seat Session (45 min)

One person per session brings a live challenge in advance. The group shows up prepared. Together you stress-test the plan, challenge assumptions, and surface what's being missed. The person in the hot seat leaves with one concrete thing they're committing to try before the next call.

📚

Monthly Themed Pre-Reads

Each month is anchored to a theme. Members get a short primer before the sessions — shared language, a framework to react to, a few questions to sit with. The conversations start deeper when everyone's working from the same starting point.

💬

Private Peer Community

Async access to your cohort between calls. The place to gut-check a decision before a big meeting, share a win, or ask the question you wouldn't ask anywhere else.

🧭

A Room That Knows Growth

Six people at your level, plus Andrew in every session bringing pattern recognition from 90+ coaching engagements. The insights you get from your peers will often be as valuable as anything Andrew adds. That's by design — it's the whole point of the room.

Six months. Six themes.

Each month, the group works through a shared theme. A short pre-read creates common language. Two sessions dig into what it actually looks like in your company, with your team, in your specific situation. The learning comes from the conversation, not the curriculum.

Month 1

Getting Started: Context & Calibration

You've already had your kickoff 1:1 with Andrew before joining. Month 1 is about getting the group calibrated — understanding where each person is, what they're actively working on, and what they most want out of the next six months. Sessions are more open in Month 1. We're building trust and learning how to be useful to each other.

Month 2

Your Growth Operating System

Most growth leaders are operating without a fully locked-in growth model. This month we dig into it together: what are you measuring, what are you optimizing for, and how does everyone in the room think about that differently? The pre-read gives us shared language. The sessions get into the specifics of what's actually working — and what isn't.

Month 3

Experimentation & Iteration

How are you actually running experiments? What's working, what's not, and what's getting in the way? This month's sessions dig past the process into the real constraints — team bandwidth, stakeholder buy-in, the difference between a learning culture and a shipping culture.

Month 4

Cross-Functional Dynamics

Cross-functional friction is one of the most consistent challenges across every growth leader Andrew has coached. This month we get specific: what are the actual dynamics in your organization, where are they breaking down, and how do you navigate them without losing momentum or political capital?

Month 5

Building & Leading Your Growth Team

Who's on your team, who should be, and how do you get from here to there? This month we dig into the real questions: when to hire, what to look for, how to manage people who are strong in areas you're not, and what it actually means to lead a growth function versus just doing growth yourself.

Month 6

Operating at the Next Level

What does the job look like as you grow into the next version of it? Managing up, advocating for your team, executive presence in practice. By the end of Month 6, you've worked through six months of real challenges with people who know your situation — and you're operating differently than when you started.

Built on 90+ coaching relationships.

The Growth Council is new. The framework behind it isn't, drawn directly from what actually moves the needle across years of 1:1 coaching.

You're a fit for the Growth Council if…

You're in or stepping into a growth leadership role

You're a Director, Head, or VP of Growth, or you're transitioning into growth from marketing or product. The role is new to you, or you're stepping up a level, and you're figuring it out without a mentor who's done your exact job.

You have ideas, and nowhere safe to test them

You know what you want to do. You need a room where you can stress-test it before it goes internal. A small group of peers who understand your role and will be honest with you.

You want to learn how to translate growth, not just do it

The hardest part of the job isn't knowing what to do. It's getting your CEO, your product team, and your peers to see it the same way. That's the skill this program builds.

You want to win at this job, and every job from here

You're building an operating system for how you lead. The frameworks and skills you develop in this program travel with you.

This is probably not for you if…

You're looking for tactical growth playbooks or channel-specific training
You want a large community or a Slack channel with hundreds of people in it
You're an individual contributor, this is for people leading growth functions and teams
You're looking for passive content to consume on your own timeline, this requires showing up
Andrew Capland

Hi, I'm Andrew.

I've been coaching growth leaders since before most people had "Head of Growth" on their business card. Over the past seven years, I've worked 1:1 with 90+ Directors, Heads, and VPs of Growth at companies from $1M to $100M ARR.

The pattern I keep seeing is the same one across every engagement: these leaders know what good growth looks like. The problem is they're navigating it alone, in a role that nobody above them has done, with a CEO who doesn't always speak their language, and no safe space to stress-test their thinking before it goes internal.

That's what I built this program to solve. More information wasn't the answer. A better room was.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is this different from Reforge?
Reforge is excellent at teaching you what good growth looks like. Most people who are a good fit for this program have already done Reforge. This is about the next problem: how to actually do it at your company, with your CEO, inside your specific constraints. That's a translation, confidence, and execution problem. That's what we work on here.
How much time does this require?
Two live sessions per month: a 75-minute Mastermind Session and a 45-minute Hot Seat Session. Plus a short pre-read before each session and some async engagement in the group channel between calls. Plan for roughly 2 hours of live time per month, plus whatever you put into applying what comes out of the conversations at work.
What's the founding cohort commitment?
Six months. The founding rate of $800/month is locked for that commitment. After six months, you'll have the option to continue at the standard rate of $1,000/month.
Why only 6 people?
Because the value is in the room, not the content library. Six people means you actually know each other. You bring real challenges. You get real feedback. A room of 40 people with a Slack channel is a different product.
Do I need to be a VP to join?
No. The right fit is someone leading a growth function: Director, Head of Growth, VP of Growth. The common thread is that you're making real decisions about growth strategy, team structure, and how your company grows. Title is secondary.
Can I expense this through my company?
Many members use their professional development or L&D budget to cover it. You'll receive a receipt you can submit to your team for reimbursement. $800/month is a common L&D budget item at growth-stage companies.
What if I don't love it?
The application process is designed to make sure this is the right fit before you commit. Andrew reviews every application and will have a direct conversation with you before you're in. If the program isn't delivering value after the first month, we'll figure it out together.
