☝️ Being a one-person growth team isn’t easy.

But, at early-stage companies, it’s not uncommon for the Head of Growth to be one person doing everything from strategy to execution. It’s a lot.

You’re in charge of moving the needle in a big way, but you don’t have big resources backing you up. The job involves a lot of hustle, plenty of speed bumps, and — if you’re not careful — burnout.

There are so many hats to wear, and only so many hours in a day. How do you get it all done without losing your mind or your job?

That’s exactly what I wanted to ask my latest guest on the Delivering Value podcast, Natalie Marcotullio. Natalie's journey from “growth hacker” intern to Head of Growth and Operations at Navattic has earned her a lot of experience over a few short years.

In the episode, we talk about the ups and downs of being a one-person growth team, and some of her secrets for staying organized and energized. Topics we covered include:

  • The importance of breaking your anxiety cycle by taking time to appreciate and celebrate what you’ve already accomplished

  • The superpower that is understanding — and working with — your CEO’s unique communication styles

  • How to avoid the “Sunday Scaries” by prepping and prioritizing both in and out of the office

  • The power of the pause to alleviate impostor syndrome in public speaking situations

  1. Be intentional about when you do certain tasks and create a system that helps ensure you're ready for the day ahead

  2. Take into account the communication styles and objectives of your team members to communicate effectively
