Background:

Walid Koleilat is the Head of Product at Plooto. He was looking for an experienced growth coach to help guide him in designing a product growth organization that was effective in driving impact, balancing short term wins with long term thinking, and avoiding landmines with critical product initiatives like pricing change and PLG motions.

What challenges were you facing when we met?

I was three months into a new role as the Head of Product at a fast growing B2B Fintech when I was tasked to build a product organization including product growth. At the time, I recognized the importance and need for an external coach who was knowledgable and experienced.

Did you evaluate other alternatives?

I am a big fan of Reforge. Their context and live programs were instrumental to my career development. That said, I needed a different program this time. I was looking for someone who is experienced in the B2B growth space and knowledgeable across product growth and leadership. Someone who could help me create value in a short amount of time and succeed in my new role.

Your coaching was perfect because it was grounded, relevant, and executable.

What did we work on together?

We worked on a number of things. We brainstormed ideas for building a PLG engine, building effective product growth and feature teams. We looked at GTM strategies, KPI trees, as well as pricing change strategies, operating system and manuals for growth teams. We covered a lot!

What was the experience like?

You’re very generous with your time and sharing your knowledge. I could tell you’re invested in my success, so we spent most of our time figuring out ways I can move the needle on the objectives that matter to me and my company. At the end of each session, there were clear takeaways for me to take action on and bring back the learnings or failures.

Any major results?

In terms of tangible results, I would say that a direct benefit was the acceleration of the GTM strategy and roadmap as well as coming up with an operating system for my team. You helped me validate the product growth strategy along with the underlying KPI tree. Having a richer perspective on critical growth problems.

I felt like I had the critical thinking power of an additional 10 years of experience that I could tap into.
