Hillary Pitts Miller works on growth, platform, and partnerships at Whimsical. Hillary has a background in consumer fintech, and previously led growth efforts at Fold. She had just been hired as Head of Growth at Whimsical when we first met.

What challenges were you facing when we met?

I had experience in the growth space, but Whimsical was my first time leading growth efforts for a PLG SaaS product. I was looking for someone who had worked in this role before to gut check my approach and help me communicate my strategy. I also wanted someone who could help me lead by influence.

Did you evaluate other alternatives?

Yeah, I had calls with two other coaches before signing on with you. I decided to move forward because, out of all the coaches I evaluated, I thought you and I vibed the best, and you had the most relevant experience to coach in the areas I needed support.

What did we work on together?

So much! Help navigating my new (and ever evolving) role, Figuring out what growth areas to initially dig in to, stakeholder management, and bringing more confidence in to my work.

What was the experience like?

Working with you made me feel like I had a partner in growth efforts while I was the first (and only) growth team member. Your casual yet detail-oriented approach provided me with the structure and guidance I needed to navigate some of the toughest moments of my career.

Any major results?

Improving our model (specifically, refining activation metric to focus on users who were more likely to fit our ICP) and flagging concerns before they became major blockers or problems (specifically, our lack of accessible analytics).

I also have felt overall more decisive, more grounded and confident in my growth recommendations. I have been able to take more time to reflect on how things are going in my role and better anticipate and react to changes.

Any message to someone on the fence about working with Andrew?
